GETTING HERE
A hidden gem in the heart of the countryside.
There are many great things about this wonderful area of ours. One of them being the ability to access such an expansive landscape of unspoilt beauty in a relatively short amount of travelling time.
The Bishop's Castle and Beyond area is easily accessible by road. Driving south along the scenic A488 from Shrewsbury brings you to Pontesbury, Minsterley, Bishop's Castle, Clun and on as far as Knighton. While a short drive west from the A49 offers different route options into the area, including the A489 which also offers good access if you're travelling from Mid Wales and the coast.
Travelling from further afield, the A5/M54 provides easy access to the county via the M6, while the M50 in the south and M56 provide good access to the A49.
The nearest mainline train station is Craven Arms which is located on the Manchester to Cardiff line and also includes stops at Ludlow and Shrewsbury. There are regular trains operating between Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton, Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International Airport to London Euston. There is also the London Paddington - Cardiff line, changing at Newport for Ludlow, Craven Arms, Church Stretton and Shrewsbury.
The scenic Heart of Wales line runs daily between Shrewsbury and Swansea and calls at Craven Arms, Broome, Hopton Heath and Knighton amongst other places.
