Things To Do

Clun Memorial Hall

We arrange a variety of fund raising events throughout the year from ceilidh's, folk & rock concerts to murder mystery evenings. It is always worth checking the 'What's On' pages here, or on our website, to see what is coming up later in the year. See also the photographs here, of some of our recent events.

About

The original Memorial Hall in Clun was located on Enfield Street and was built in 1920 in memory of those who lost their lives in the First World War. By the 1970s the building was proving too small, could not be extended and offered no car parking. So, a new hall was eventually built nearby on reclaimed land – what was originally an ancient lake, which is said to have originally provided fish to the castle and water to drive Clun Mill (now a Youth Hostel).

The new hall opened in 1979 and is set in over 6 acres of land, forming playing fields, a children’s play park, woodland and a large carpark. It is a registered charity and run by a body of trustees, with the following objective:

  • The object of the Charity shall be the provision and maintenance of a village hall and recreation ground for the use of the inhabitants of the Parish of Clun and the neighbourhood thereof  without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said inhabitants.

We offer regular events, including live music and amateur theatre productions and the hall is used by many local clubs, sports groups and societies. It is available for meetings and at weekends, for weddings and other functions.
