Tim Kliphuis (born 30 September 1974 in Utrecht, Netherlands) is a Dutch violinist renowned for mixing gypsy jazz with classical and folk music, whose recent works have been dedicated to raising awareness about climate change.

The award-winning Tim Kliphuis Trio are performing their new programme ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’, where gypsy jazz and (neo)classical meet at the Clun Memorial Hall, on Sunday May 26th at 7.30pm.

Inspired by Modeste Mussorgsky’s highly original approach to music pioneered 150 years ago with his ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’, the Trio presents a range of emotions based on famous paintings by Van Gogh, Klimt, O’Keeffe, Hokusai and Hartmann.

The Tim Kliphuis trio comprises of Tim on violin, Nigel Clark on guitar and Roy Percy on double bass. Excitingly the piece will change every time it is performed by the trio as they weave their expert improvisation skills into it and push the boundaries of the music and themselves as performers.

Hear these works of art come to life with the Trio’s dazzling interpretations of Mussorgsky and Kliphuis’ themes!
