It’s almost Greenman Weekend, when Frosty is sent packing and Spring takes over from Winter and once again we welcome to the Memorial Hall in Clun, top Midlands Folk Bands Greenman Rising, and the Whipjacks. These two bands present a lively show of foot stomping folk music as well as calm ballads. What a great way to kickstart the Greenman weekend!

Greenman Rising play regularly at folk festivals around the country. They deliver the hardcore tradition for modern audiences. Driving dance tunes, beautiful ballads and full-on musical madness that’ll get you dancing the night away. Always a favourite at the Beardy Folk Festival, don’t miss them at their second appearance in Clun!

But first to warm you up, we are presenting the Whipjacks, with their pounding Drums, driving Bass and screeching Guitar, allied with melodic Mandolin, Accordion and attitude filled lyrics.

When The Whipjacks hit the stage, it’s time to raise your drink and try not to spill it on your mates, which is easier said than done.

The six piece band hail from the lazy little city of Worcester and over the last few years they have worked hard to earn their place in the world of live music.  A place they continue to prove they deserve, with appearances at festivals such as Nozzstock, Mello festival and Lakefest.

The Whipjacks bring a foot-stomping, rampage of energy to the stage and the emphasis of their interpretation of ‘Alternative Folk’ is entertainment, not self indulgence.

This will be an excellent fringe event before the main Clun Green Man festival starts on Sunday 4th May.
Come and kick off the weekend with a lively night out. You can expect a couple of high octane sets of alternative rock and folk rock music from these two fantastic bands. Get your dancing shoes on and come along to the gig.
