Fancy a game of tennis in spectacular surroundings and a welcoming community. Bishop’s Castle Tennis Club is where playing tennis is made easy and enjoyable. For nearly 100 years, tennis has been played on the Club’s appropriately named Love Lane grounds, with their spectacular views of the Long Mynd, Stiperstones, the south Shropshire hills, buzzards and red kites. The courts are in a superb location adjacent to the A488 road (SY9 5DW), adjacent to the Bishop’s Castle Railway track bed and a short distance from Bishop’s Castle’s town centre with its rich variety of cafes and pubs: the historic Three Tuns brewery; and the hanging gardens of the Castle Hotel. It’s about a 7 -minute walk from town by public footpath.

Car parking and toilet facilities are available in the Club House. The Club is a Covid Secure Venue.

There are two floodlit hard courts and an AstroTurf court available for early risers from 8am until night owls finish at 11pm, all year round. Local & Visitors enjoy “Pay and Play’ tennis for £10 per hour per court (up to four players), paid and booked online. You’ll receive a booking confirmation with details on how to access the courts. The club has 3 all-weather courts including one Astroturf on land below the mtown off the A488. Visitors are welcome provided that they wear tennis shoes not hard ridged trainers. Coaching available. Daily rate: £3 per person for a 2 hour session. Tennis balls for sale at 4 for £3 and tennis rackets can be borrowed (a small deposit required)
