About

Overlooking the picturesque town of Clun, these 11th century ruins are not to be missed. Offering spectacular views of the surrounding hills, Clun Castle is a great place to enjoy a picnic and explore the local history.

Clun castle was attacked and burned by the Welsh in 1196, however, it was rebuilt by the Fitzalan family, who modified its structure into the one you see today. By the early 1400’s it was attacked by Glyndwr and after that, disappears from the history books.

Now a ruin and under the care of English Heritage it is free to access all year round.
