About

A. J. Pugh Butchers was opened by Andrew Pugh in a small town on the Welsh border in 1980. His goal was to supply locally produced meat with a family run background, meat would be supplied by his own family farm, which he grew up on, and also come from other local farms which are abundant and thriving in the area.

Today, he still follows the same principles, and runs two shops with his son, Thomas Pugh, in the towns of Bishop’s Castle and Knighton.

We are proud to supply some of the finest meat available, from Shropshire Lambs and Shorthorn Cattle produced by Andrew’s brother, Clive, on the family farm, to free range pigs, cattle and lambs bought from within a 20 mile radius of our shops. Free Range chickens and eggs reared locally, and all of our bacon is cured by ourselves. All of our sausages are homemade also.
